If your goal is complete fluency in another language, a short-term course at the International Language School probably will not be enough. The Academic Year Abroad is the ideal way to immerse yourself completely in a new language.
Spend nine months at one or two(Twin Centres)EF International Language Schools, and you will come away with documented language credentials, valuable work experience and greater cultural understanding.
But the Academic and career benefits are just part of the package. You will also learn a lot about yourself, make friends from around the world, and leave with memories that will last a lkfetime.
Ideal For students, ages 17 to 28, who wishes to become fluent in English and study in two locations in the UK. Just like the programme described below, exept that you get to experience two different British cities.
Locations - London and Brighton - Spend one term in London followed by two terms in Brighton starting (January 2001 and January 2002) or spend two terms in London followed by one term in Brighton starting (September 2001)

An Individualised Study Programme
The Curriculum is designed to give any student of the English language fluent communication skills and an in-depth understanding of a range of academic subjects. It also allow you to use these newly -acquired English skills in the work-place, on our Internship Option. To achieve this, your study is devided into two phases of instructions. Phase one concentrates on improving your fundemental English Language skills. Having attained a working knowledge of English, phase two allows you to use this knowledge to explore other areas of academic interest and gain work experience.
Intensive Language Acquisition
On your first day of school, you will be given a Language proficiency test. This will allow the Director of Studies of the school of your choice to group you with other students of the same ability level, ensuring that you make progress as quickly as possible.
Initially, you will follow an intensive programme of 24 or 30 English Language Lesons a Week. Instruction will at first focus on helping you to communicate naturally in everyday Language. Teachers use a carefully balanced combination of written exercises, Language Laboratory work, role play and conversation to cover the wide-ranging syllabus.
You will soon acquire a wider knowledge of vocabulary and grammatical structures and notice significant improvements in both your intonation and pronunciation.
A Wide Range of Academic Studies
Once you have sufficient English skills to enable you to participate in academic studies, the Language element of your course decreases and you enrol in the subject of your choice. Students choose subjects according to their future study or career plans, or simply for personal interest. Each school offers a wide range of subjects which might include current affairs, history, drama, media, Literature and business.
The Internship Option
Experience of using your new Language skills in a work environment will give you a real advantage in today`s competitive job market. For an additional placement fee of £300, the company will guarantee you an Internship, once you have acquired sufficient English Language skills.
The EF Internships are available in one of twelve popular work areas:
Business, Sales and Marketing, Arts and Entertainment, Finance, Social services, International Affairs and Government, Travel and Tourism, Media, Education, Environment, Public Relations and Law.
