1000 Years of History
If you climb up to the Castle ruins on the cliff top, you will have a wonderful view of the fishermen's cottages and medieval streets that make up the town of Hastings. Famous for the battle in which King Harold's army was defeated by the Normans in 1966, Hastings is today a friendly South Coast holiday resort within easy reach of London, just 90 minutes away by train. Surrounding countryside villages such as Winchelsea and Rye are among the prettiest to be found in England.
The Hastings International School of English
The EF school is near the centre of town only a few minutes walk from the beach. Behind the exterior of the school's elegant building in Warrior Square, you will find a modern school with well-equipped classrooms and the latest in Language teaching technology.
Films and Videos are shown regularly in the school's Lecture hall, and you are always welcome in the self-access centre or student lounge where you can go online and surf the Internet! You will be sure to improve your comprehension and pronunciation in the Language Laboratory. The school's welcoming team of staff led by School Director, Sheron Hunt, provide an ideal study environment. You can choose to live with a local host family, or in student residence, located just opposite the school!
After lessons you can enjoy lunch in the school cafeteria with your new international friends, browse through the T-Shirts and books in the student shop, or visit Hastings's new shopping centre at Priory Meadow.
Choose any of the courses outlined to prepare yourself for TOEFL or any of the Cambridge (CE) exams.
No Shortage of Activities!
There are tennis courts, golf courses, swimming pools, football matches and horse riding stables nearby. Many students can not resist the beauty of the beach on sunny afternoons, and Hastings Pier acts as the perfect meeting place before setting out on the town. In the evenings Hastings offers as much as any other cosmopolitan city.
The school's Activities Organiser, Luke Veness, is always happy to help you with any of your personal travel arrangements as well as organising regular sightseeing trips throughout England. Local excursions takes you to favourite places such as Cambridge, Brighton, Windsor and London, with weekend trips to Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Paris and Dublin.
